Fresh Asian Chayote Chow Chow- Imported Weekly from Asia
Despite appearing having a pear or avocado-like appearance, Chayote or Chow Chow is actually a common Asian vegetable which belongs to the squash family (along with gourds and melons). It is crunchy in texture and mild in taste with a subtle sweetness, much like cucumbers.
Chow Chow can be baked or fried and used in a variety of dishes from salads, soups or patties. It can also be enjoyed as a stuffed vegetable, filled with other vegetables and seasonings much like bell peppers.
